Job Description

Our client in the New Haven, CT area is seeking an experienced Tax Accountant to support their team during tax season. This role will focus primarily on the preparation of individual tax returns and is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with hands-on experience using UltraTax. The position offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while contributing to timely and accurate tax filings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review individual federal and state income tax returns (Form 1040)
  • Utilize UltraTax software to accurately input, process, and finalize tax returns
  • Gather, organize, and analyze client financial information and tax documents
  • Ensure compliance with current tax laws, regulations, and filing requirements
  • Identify potential tax issues and communicate findings clearly to the tax team
  • Maintain organized and thorough workpapers to support tax filings
  • Meet deadlines during peak tax season while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail

Qualifications

  • Proven experience preparing 1040 individual tax returns
  • Hands-on experience with UltraTax software is a plus
  • Solid understanding of federal and state tax regulations
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple returns and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Prior experience working in a public accounting or tax firm environment
  • Connecticut state tax experience is a plus

Work Environment

This position is based on site in New Haven, Connecticut, and offers the opportunity to work closely with an experienced tax team during the busy tax season.
